Tigers' pitching, bats topple Bulldogs in 8-1 victory

ATHENS — Clemson put together a solid performance on Tuesday in an 8-1 win over Georgia.
The Tigers’ pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and their offense scored eight runs off nine hits, which helped them solidify a non-conference victory over the Bulldogs.
Despite the lackluster performance by the Bulldogs, they actually led 1-0 for a short time. After two scoreless innings from both teams, they got ahead in the bottom of the third.
Graduate Connor Tate had a two-out double, scoring fellow classmate Ben Anderson from second; however, Clemson took over in the top of the fourth with a three-run home run.
