Report: Georgia transfer wide receiver RaRa Thomas arrested on several charges

Georgia wide receiver Rodarius “RaRa” Thomas, who recently transferred to the Bulldogs from Mississippi State, was arrested by campus police early Monday morning.
Thomas, 20, was booked into the Athens-Clarke County jail with a felony charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor family battery violence charge (first offense) at 4:04 a.m.
Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald was one of the first to report the news of the arrest.
He has not been released on bond as of 10:45 a.m. Monday, according to ACCPD jail records.
UPDATE: Thomas was released on bond at 12:05 p.m., according to ACCPD jail record.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound wideout hauled in 44 receptions for 626 yards and seven scores as a sophomore at Mississippi State this past year. His receiving yards total ranked 12th overall in the SEC, and his touchdowns were tied for fourth-most in the league.
Thomas, a Eufala, Ala. native, was brought in as a key addition for Georgia at wideout alongside Missouri wide receiver Dominic Lovett and was expected to contribute in 2022.
Thomas’s arrest comes almost a week after former UGA wide receiver AD Mitchell announced he was entering the transfer portal. Mitchell then committed to Texas on Saturday.
According to the ABH, the University of Georgia athletics department released a statement:
"We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes. While we are limited in what we can say about the incident, the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field. In addition to following internal Athletic Association policies, we will be working closely with our administration to ensure we cooperate fully with all law enforcement and campus protocols.”
