Practice Report: Injured players participating, a very vocal Tray Scott

Athens, Ga. — The media got to view part of Monday’s practice as No. 1 Georgia prepares for arch-rival Georgia Tech.
It was a quick 10-minute viewing period; however, here are some notes I collected:
Sophomore running back Kendall Milton, junior wide receiver George Pickens and offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer were all practicing. Milton and Pickens were donning black non-contact jerseys and Salyer looked to be working with the first-team at left tackle. Even so, I did also see the senior utility lineman take at least one snap at left guard.
The tight ends, defensive linemen and outside linebackers were working together on combo blocks. I saw Warren Ericson line up next to Darnell Washington face Travon Walker. John FitzPatrick also lined up next to Sedrick Van Pran in one rotation.
Defensive line coach Tray Scott was dogging Walker on one occurrence after getting absolutely demolished by the pair of Ericson and Washington. During a drill change, Scott shouted, “Come on, we got shit to get ready for.” All the players around him seemed to react to his enthusiasm.
Georgia head Kirby Smart was relentlessly shouting, “Today is all about ball security.” The Bulldogs lost the turnover battle to Charleston Southern on Saturday, so that was probably warranted. Tight ends coach Todd Hartley was harping to his group the same exact thing.
The quarterbacks were working on evading an edge rusher and dumping the ball off in the flat to a running back. Stetson Bennett and James Cook ran in the first rotation. Then JT Daniels and Kenny McIntosh were in the next one together.
Defensive back Christopher Smith was working on a training bike. Smart said earlier in the day that he wouldn’t practice today, but is ‘hopeful’ for this Saturday’s matchup against the Yellow Jackets. I saw him enter the Dawg Walk on Saturday being supported by crutches.
I didn’t see junior outside linebacker Nolan Smith, who has been dealing with an elbow injury. However, I easily could have missed him because I was moving around a lot.
