Liam Sullivan selected on final day of 2023 MLB Draft
What major league team selected the Bulldogs' left-handed pitcher?

Georgia pitcher Liam Sullivan was selected by the Washington Nationals Tuesday with the 375th overall pick in the 13th round during the final day of the 2023 MLB Draft.
Sullivan, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound left-hander from Sandy Springs, recorded a team-leading 14 starts with a 5-2 mark and a 5.77 ERA this past season. He worked 64 innings and tallied 75 strikeouts and 33 walks with one complete game for the Bulldogs.
The two-time Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week was named the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week after posting a career-high 11 strikeouts over seven hitless innings against Princeton. Sullivan was also a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and participated in the 2023 MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix, Arizona.
During his college career at UGA, the management major amassed a 10-7 overall record with one save and a 4.95 ERA. He made 42 appearances for Georgia with 30 starts, 178 strikeouts and 73 walks over 151 innings. He is the first selection by the Nationals since 2013 when they drafted left-handed pitcher Patrick Boling in the 32nd round.
The Bulldogs have a string of 50 straight seasons with at least one player signing a professional contract. Also, they have had at least one player drafted going back to 1987.
Teams have until July 25 to sign their draft picks unless that player has exhausted their collegiate eligibility. Those players are free to sign at any time up until one week prior to next year’s draft.
The 2023 MLB Draft was held over three days with 20 rounds. On Tuesday, the draft featured rounds 11-20. A total of 614 players were selected this year, including UGA pitcher Jaden Woods, who was selected Monday with the 197th pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
