Four-star edge rusher Darris Smith inks with Bulldogs
Georgia has signed four-star Appling County (Ga.) defensive lineman Darris Smith.
Smith is rated as the nation’s No. 160 overall prospect, No. 14 edge rusher and No. 16 player in Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He originally committed in December 2020 to the Bulldogs, although he wanted it to be official on National Signing Day when his Appling County teammates signed their respective letters of intent.
Smith joins Mykel Williams, CJ Madden and Marvin Jones Jr. as the other edge rushers in Georgia’s 2022 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-6, 225-pound defender chose the Bulldogs over Florida, Tennessee and Auburn in December.
Smith racked up 54 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, five quarterback pressures, one interception and two forced fumbles during his senior campaign for the Pirates. He had 13 receptions and 353 all-purpose yards while scoring five touchdowns on offense for Appling County in 2021. Smith also played basketball in high school.
