First-Year Profile: Raylen Wilson

Georgia signed the nation’s No. 2 recruiting overall class in 2023, per 247Sports. The Bulldogs inked 26 players from the class of 2023, so over the next month, Dawg-Watch.com will be looking at Georgia’s incoming freshmen in a series called “First-Year Profile.”
Next, we look at five-star inside linebacker Raylen Wilson.
Ranking: Wilson is rated as the nation’s No. 29 overall player, No. 4 linebacker, and No. 7 prospect out of Florida in the 2023 recruiting class, according to On3.com.
Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 225 pounds
Story: Wilson, who is from Tallahassee, Florida, was originally a Michigan commit for seven months. However, the inside linebacker backed off that commitment from the Wolverines last summer and gave his pledge to the Bulldogs less than a month later. He was brought in by Georgia co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, who didn’t give up.
Wilson was named the 2021 All-Big Bend Defensive Player of the Year after leading Lincoln High School with 139 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and five sacks during his junior year. He had 380 yards on kick returns and one touchdown as a returner for the Trojans.
In 2022, as a senior, Wilson had a team-high in tackles (109), tackles for loss (18.0), and sacks (nine). He’s also a successful track athlete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash races.
