On Sunday, four-star Salisbury High School (N.C.) product Jalon Walker committed to Georgia over Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama and North Carolina.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker is a huge get for the Bulldogs. After the 2021 season, Georgia could lose its top-three inside linebackers in Quay Walker, Channing Tindall and Nakobe Dean. So, the addition of Walker is very important in terms of the depth chart.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Walker is ranked the No. 50 player nationally, No. 4 outside linebacker and the No. 2 overall player from the state of North Carolina.
This commitment is a testament to how good of a recruiter Georgia inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann is. Walker is the second pickup for the Bulldogs at linebacker in the 2022 cycle. He joins four-star Cedartown (Ga.) native C.J. Washington at the position. Current commits Donovan Westmoreland and Darris Smith could also be viable candidates as well.
On tape, Walker is an excellent defender with speed and size. His athleticism is his biggest upside because he already fits the frame of a collegiate-sized linebacker. Walker is very comparable to Dean in many ways. Both have the ability to disregard blockers and get to the ball carrier. He’s also shown already flashes of great pass coverage capabilities.
Walker joins Gunnar Stockton, Malaki Starks, Deyon Bouie, Tyre West, Bear Alexander, Marquis Groves-Killebrew, C.J. Washington, Darris Smith and Donovan Westmoreland as apart of UGA’s 2022 recruiting class.
Stats for Walker’s junior season at Salisbury could not be found.
